Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their initial championship series since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"It's incredible for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an incredible feeling."
Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation besides Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" in the wake of his side's defeat at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he added.
Toronto's team secured the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
