We start with queries from Tory Member of Parliament the committee chair, who leads the group.

She initiates by giving details to the disclosed memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.

"I don't want the BBC leaning toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it balanced, fair and just," he says.

When asked whether he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is institutionally biased, the adviser answers: "No I don't. Let's be clear, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - both documentary and entertainment content."

But he adds: "There exists significant effort that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

A further ex-adviser British Broadcasting Corporation adviser examined by the committee, Caroline Daniel, states she takes the BBC very seriously and that it maintains a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" across dynamic and complex subjects.

"Was the BBC prepared to engage in a proper dialogue and argument and take action?" she questions. "From my perspective, indeed, they were."
