Heavy Downpours Aggravate Conditions for Displaced Palestinians in Gaza, Officials Caution
Persistent rains over the past week have intensified the precarious living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, as stated by humanitarian agencies.
"Awful" Night Brings Serious Threats
A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with downpours so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.
"These conditions was really horrendous for the residents. The storms were so powerful... And the gusts were so strong," noted the representative.
There is grave anxiety that young ones residing in temporary structures in soaked attire will succumb to hypothermia and additional illnesses.
Deaths and Significant Destruction
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has died from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in building collapses due to the harsh conditions.
Other reports suggest a greater death toll. Authorities stated that numerous homes had collapsed completely and many others had sustained partial collapse.

Assistance Operations Deemed Insufficient
Agencies have escalated distribution of tarpaulins, warm covers and clothes following the halt in hostilities started, but they have said there is continues to be not enough aid entering.
"Agencies are operating tirelessly to bring in that relief and to hand it out, but the scale of the needs is so immense that we are faced with many thousands of individuals and minors who are truly enduring hardship each evening," stated one official.
Long-Term Issues and Truce Terms
The next stage of the truce includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other terms.
Humanitarian groups have stressed the imperative for "expanded and ongoing relief to meet urgent and future requirements."
The conflict was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Following military operations have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the area, according to health ministry data.
