Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
