Paceman Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.

Gus Atkinson added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left leg after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.

Team management reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time on the sidelines for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January starts this coming Sunday.

The visitors have already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, then recalled for the fourth Test in the playing XI.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 with the bat among just a trio of England players to reach double figures.

Post a single over late on the first day, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and immediately felt at his leg.

Gus Atkinson was brought back for the Melbourne match following his omission the previous Test.
