It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
