The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.
It might not have been at the equivalent scale as sparing festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.
“Unless you count eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life free from concern.”
The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to replicate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.
The animal, contributed by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.
“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to open the end-of-year celebrations,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It embodies the character of Miami: joyful, varied, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
